New Solutions to Diabetes
With David Spero, RN, BSN
This program is for professionals (diabetes
educators, nurses, physicians) and communities (promotoras,
community health workers, activists). Ideal for continuing
education programs.
This class
teaches the social and environmental causes of diabetes. It explodes
the myth of DM as a “lifestyle disease.” It provides sound
strategies for using the strength of family, community, and the
health care system to change behaviors, environments, and lives.
New Solutions includes:
● Basics of self-care and self-care support -
how to succeed at preventing and managing diabetes, and help others
do so.
● Diabetes as a social disease – the
environmental (including social and economic environment) causes of
diabetes, and social approaches to prevention and treatment.
● Hot topics in diabetes – important and
little-reported information and controversies on issues including
diet, medication, glucose control, sleep, sex, among others
Available in one to six hours formats.
References and resources included. Includes lecture and group
