I used to lead a six-week self-management program for people with chronic conditions at a Kaiser Permanente hospital. Iris was 60 years old when she came to one of these classes. She was a short woman with straight black hair and glasses, who walked slowly with a cane in her left hand. Iris had high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes, and two and a half years before, she had had a stroke. Since then, she had mostly been moping around, not doing much of anything.
You could market this stuff, ya know. “Eye moisturizer” is a highly under-served market niche. ;^)
Angelee’s right. I’m sodden eyed myself!
I want to go to the beach!
This is a perfect example of how other people do not always know what is best for us. Great of you to recognize that she shouldn’t continue trying to do something that didn’t fit her real needs.
Great story based on your great work! What motivates me? I strongly believe in leaving things/places/situations better than when I found them. So, that goes for our precious Earth and all the Earthlings who share it. That’s the spiritual inheritance I’ll leave for my son and future generations.
I really appreciate your blog here about Iris. Wonderful story!
The other thing I wanted to say, as an amateur photographer, I really like your picture at the top of the blog…it is very moving to see the figure walking down the road in the distance. Nice to see your fresh face looking back at me.
God bless you!
